and.
it will be a good mail day for about 7 or 8 people soon....
just sent out lots of wedding CD's and letters and surprises.
one of my favorite parts about my wedding biz biz is doing my own packaging....!
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
and just in case you're dying to know,
fun tape, is from cutetape.com, we love their url.
stickers, from zazzle.com. the quality is okay.... i want to try someone else next time. but it works.
those white boxes are from rice studio, love them.
and my little address stamp is from overnightprints.com!
Just so you know, if I lived in your home I would be excited to raid your mail. In a not-super-awkward-and-intrusive way, but in a way that I'd want to be there when you opened all your fun packages because you get adorable things in the mail.
(04.29.10 @ 02:10 PM)i love snail mail! and packaging :) i love how you capture little bits of joy! i own that yellow felt placemat from world market! definitely brightens up my room!

Packages are THE BEST. Especially when you don't know (or forget) they're coming. And thanks for the stationary store tips! I LOVE that tape. I've also seen a bunch of etsy stores that sell it.
(04.29.10 @ 08:53 PM)what about that amazing delightful yellow placemat ---- wonder if it might come in green?

how do you show up in life?
what mode of being is most comfortable for you?
my comfort zone is where things are happy and fun.
spaces that feel quiet can be hard for me.
i need energy, fun, life, joy.
i used to approach photo sessions with the mentality that i had to be the one to bring out energy from people, and that was basically my goal: ENERGY.
quiet moments can scare me.
lately though, i've been in the practice of just being with people.
no expectation,
no forcing things just to fill the space.
just subtlety and nuance.
letting things emerge.
with lauren,
i started things out by asking her 'what says lauren to you?'
that started a conversation that i think really helped both of us.
things felt real.

I had a really lovely time with you yesterday Shannon. You've shot some beautiful moments. I feel really lovely and felt loved by you yesterday as you asked questions, listened, shot. Your acceptance of the invitation into being present in silence with people is just lovely, even if it feels scary. I enjoyed the silence yesterday......and the little clicks of the shutter. I feel you've captured a piece of my personality that I hasn't been captured on film before; I am certain your openness to me gave me the freedom and space to feel myself.
(04.28.10 @ 06:43 PM)both your words and the photos: inspiringly insightful. :)
(04.29.10 @ 09:14 PM)Love this lovely friend Lauren! You are such a beauty -- boots and all. And Shannon I do so enjoy your blog and am a big fan of your work - thanks for inspiring!

dont worry though the birdseed is only a treat. he eats better than most humans.
I'm totally all for feeding animals REAL food. I do it with my dog. I mean they're carnivores for goodness sake! No more of that carb-y dry food for this pup!
(04.22.10 @ 07:42 PM)hi hun! well, i grabbed a photo off your site for my tumblr because i loved it so much...and apparently the rest of the world loved it too! heh.

i noticed that i'm really picky when i pick out bananas, because i can't stand when they're too yellow. so i forecast for the week and buy 3 or 4 or 5.... all with increasingly brighter shades of green so that they'll be perfect when i get to them.
then i noticed that i bought a red pepper instead of an orange like normal, which matched with the tomatoes, which faded beautifully to the apples, which made the real orange pop. which transitioned to the yellow bananas, which transitioned to the pear and finally the lime.
PRAISE HIM FOR POLAROIDS,
and yay for the color wheel which makes our lives so much better.
also a documentation of what i call my forest---- the flowers.
monday loves you, so love it back!
shannon
Shannon:
1) I like your blog/photography. I generally click the link to it when it's on my facebook newsfeed, though I don't know if I've ever commented before.
2) I do the same thing with bananas!
3) Your "forest" looks lovely, what pretty flowers, and fun, eclectic vases!
your fruit spectrum made me SO happy! thank you - my monday is now better. and i love your banana picking method. :)
(04.19.10 @ 02:54 PM)the moment i saw the title "fruit spectrum" i IMMEDIATELY thought of the ID2 fruit heart poster you made. like instantly it popped into my head. i feel like all the noise fads around me when i look at your pictures. the are a place of quiet, peace + meditation.
(04.19.10 @ 03:41 PM)Shan-
this post kills me.
I love it so, so much. COLOR. my heart hurts.
I love the flowers on your table. Happiness.
Also, I am aware that this post was mostly about fruit. I just happened to really enjoy the flowers.
(04.19.10 @ 04:20 PM)shannon these are incredible! what lens did you use to shoot these?! thank you so much for the inspiration!
j.
CAMI! thanks for commenting! love that you do it too :) :) :)
MEG, your reflection about them being a place of meditation moved me. thanks for saying that. //
KODI, the post was definitely about both fruit and the flower forest. and many other things. love that you loved the flowers. //
JENNIFER------i used a 35mm f/1.4 for all of these---- FAVORITE LENS! i used it 90% of the time. it sees how i see. //
(04.19.10 @ 05:45 PM)Again again again... I thank you for the beautiful ranunculuses........... and o definitely remember your previous fruit heart encounter and the bountiful produce we ate afterward! AWESOME.
(04.21.10 @ 02:50 AM)Lovely! Yay for the way you show me colors! And, if you ever decide to make a big vegetable heart again, I want to help!!! What a great health metaphor! And, how fun!
(04.23.10 @ 07:41 PM)Oh Shann.... this makes me miss the PH. I love Spring's flower selection. And I miss long mornings with you :)
