is my favorite........
a picture of the moon taken through a telescope with an sx-70.
what?

such an honor to be part of this.
Look at that! I keep using the word amazing connected to things you do, but I'm proud and know you have quite the career ahead with your "arty talent". love ya
(01.14.10 @ 11:29 AM)love the one of the moon, too. and your perspective--its like you were shooting through an obstacle, too. :)

I actually got invited to this show by a friend last week(unfortunately we can't go). So I checked out the list of contributors and saw your name. I was blown away! So cool!!! :)
(01.08.10 @ 08:26 AM)
anyway. i wanted a photo up close of our popcorn and cranberry strands that ro and rox made, but the little guy decided to take a photo of the tree and the star instead. this is why i love polaroids. they have a mind of their own. and i love how they think.
move them around,
test the light,
experiment,
look,
a lot,
look for where they seem to just fit.
wait for the time when they shine.
keep exploring until i find it....
and then get to the computer and realize that the 'it' was really a different one than i thought it would be.
today i couldn't choose the IT........
so you get three.
middle.

what's the first word that comes to mind when you look at these four polaroids? for me, its mountains. which is why i titled it that as i saved it in photoshop. i usually title things with the first thing that comes to mind.... which doesnt exactly help me when i'm trying to FIND things on my hard drive..... but hey. it makes me happy.
something i've been processing lately is the question that most people have when looking at my polaroids: 'what IS that?' everyone wants to know what it is... how i did it...... but its funny because sometimes i have long forgotten what exactly i was photographing. and most of the time i end up enjoying the colors and lines and blur a lot better than what i saw with my eyes.
that's why i love polaroids.
they're mysterious, they're magical, they give you something unexpected.
they're instant, they're tangible, they're uniquely one of a kind, they can't be replicated.
they're precious, and by that i mean both cute and full of value,
you can hold them in your hand,
they surprise you,
they make you think.
so-------- this is my polaroid collection for you today
>>> prize for a random commenter!!
pea soup....i LOVE pea soup! :) yup, i really do...
(10.26.09 @ 03:51 PM)Oh Tropicana ... such a huge part of our lives both in the big and the small, in the shadows and the light, in our youth and our adulthood
(10.26.09 @ 04:52 PM)They make me think of when you are trying to think of something that you can't remember......... and when it finally comes to you, it either comes in a flash of inspiration or a slow recognition. Both kinds of remembering I see in your Polaroids:)
(10.26.09 @ 06:04 PM)The left hand top and bottom ones make me think of jellyfish, top right reminds of me of orange cremesicle and the bottom right hand looks like lace. They are happy!
If only my thoughts were more cohesive! :)
(10.26.09 @ 06:07 PM)Microplankton and microscopes. As if, were you to scoop up some slime from a NorCal pond and stick it under the lens, this might be what you see. A little organicness, a lot of complexity, and another world.
(10.26.09 @ 06:20 PM)They make me think of the earth, on those school books when they show the nucleus...ummm don't know how to explain it..
(10.26.09 @ 06:52 PM)Orange creamsicle sounds tasty.
btw, does Tropicana still make OJ?
funny that your dad said "pea soup" because if I only looked at the one on the top left I thought of peas too... But as a whole (the four of them) I think of Autumn Leaves on sidewalks.
(10.27.09 @ 12:08 AM)They made me think of food!!
The green one reminds me of licorice, stacked up, one by one. Nyum!
The white one reminds me of a part of an egg. The one under the green one reminds me M&M's. The last one looks like cereal.
and the pictures make me hungry. :D
(10.27.09 @ 05:11 AM)Shannon! These make me think of how much I miss you! And I love the lines the best, and maybe the colors... oh I don't know!
(10.27.09 @ 08:58 AM)a journey.
(10.27.09 @ 10:22 AM)
i really like looking at the ceiling and looking at light patterns. i saw one today (it's below), and it reminded me of those ones above. the one below lasted about 20 seconds, i grabbed my camera and snapped it and it disappeared. i realized that it was a car stopped at a stoplight, and some sort of reflection dazzled into my apartment and made me happy. which was great, because i needed that burst of happiness. i will now take a deep breath and continue my day. hope you are well. yes, you. :)

hi hi hi hi hi hihih hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi ---- i typed all of those for you
(10.15.09 @ 05:13 PM)
